Live and travelling this summer, An album for February 2004.
(Montreal, Friday, June 6, 2003) - The future looks bright for TAIMA PROJECT. In spite of a quiet Spring on the media front, Elisapie Isaac and Alain Auger have been very busy preparing the upcoming year.
Among other things, last March 20th, Elisapie Isaac was presenting the world premiere of her short documentary film entitled "Sila piqujippat (If The Weather Permits)" after winning the fourth "Cinéastes Autochtones" competition held by the National Film Board of Canada (NFB). A few duo performances enlightened the benefit concert(s) Arminie-Vie held at Lion D'Or in Montreal last April 24th, along side Lousnak, Lhassa De Sela, La Bottine Souriante, Yann Perreau and many other great artists, and the Montreal Mayor's Foundation Annual Breakfast on May 21. Then, TAIMA PROJECT captured a lot of attention at the Senate of Canada in Ottawa for the Arboriginal Awareness Week opening ceremony last May 20th. Not to mention the writing of a few more songs needed to complete the album to be recorded this summer.
For that matter, TAIMA PROJECT entered Studio Frisson last June 2nd for the recording of their first album with producer Michel Pépin (Emmylou Harris, Rufus Wainright, Bet. E & Stef, The McGarrigle Sisters). Twelve songs interpreted for the most part in Inuktitut, and a few ones in French and in English, meant to seduce their growing public.
This summer, TAIMA PROJECT will present their repertoire at the Calgary Folk Festival (July 25 to 28), at the Chicago Tall Ship Festival (August 1 to 4) on a very special invitation by the Consulate General of Canada in Chicago. Then, in January 2004, the band will undertake their European journey with a participation at the first edition of Les Déferlantes de Pralogan-La-Valoise Festival in Haute-Savoie, France (winter version of Les Déferlantes de Cap-Breton held in July in the South of France).
TAIMA PROJECT's first album is scheduled for release on the Canadian market in February 2004 on the record label Fullspin Music.
